Second: Occupational Safety and Health Course

Occupational Safety and Health Course (12 months)
The Occupational Safety and Health course is a training program that lasts for 12 months, aimed at providing trainees with the essential knowledge and skills to ensure a safe working environment in construction and industrial sites. The program starts with intensive English language training, followed by basic safety courses, and then progresses to specialized field training in occupational safety.

This program consists of three stages:

English Program:
The English program is specifically designed for employees in companies who wish to engage in continuous training at the workplace. The program consists of four courses, starting from beginner level and progressing to pre-intermediate level, focusing on developing all basic skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a structured manner. Each course has clear learning outcomes aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) and the Global Scale of English (GSE). Employees who complete the preparatory English levels 0 and 1 can begin diploma or professional training in parallel with technical English level 1 or level 2.

Core Curriculum:
The NCCER Core curriculum is designed as a rigorous, industry-approved program that focuses on competency-based education and vocational technical learning. Trainees can complete the required components in a shorter or longer time than the recommended 150 hours of knowledge- and skill-based education, depending on their level of mastery of the content.
The NCCER Core curriculum is a prerequisite for all level 1 craft programs. Its units cover topics such as basic safety, communication skills, and an introduction to construction drawings. The curriculum also includes a new elective unit providing information on career paths in construction, in addition to more precise performance testing and comprehensive updates in mathematics, hand tools, power tools, and drawings.

Field Safety Craft:
To prevent accidents, a workplace safety program is essential. This curriculum will provide trainees with the safety rules and preventive procedures needed to work safely at any job site. Safety must be integrated into all stages of work, involving all employees at all levels, including management.
The field safety curriculum covers topics such as hazard communication, fall protection, and forklift safety.

Course Objectives:

· Promote a Safety Culture: Train trainees on the importance of safety at work sites and how to integrate it into all stages of work.

· Recognize Hazards: Introduce trainees to various hazards they may face on job sites and how to deal with them.

· Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Train trainees on how to use PPE correctly and effectively.

· Emergency Procedures Training: Teach trainees how to respond to emergencies such as fires or electrical accidents.

· Fall Prevention: Train trainees on using fall protection equipment and the importance of proper installation and maintenance.

· Heavy Equipment Safety: Train trainees on safely operating heavy equipment such as forklifts.

· Electrical Safety: Teach trainees how to handle electrical hazards at work sites and ensure the use of appropriate safety equipment.

· Confined Space Work Safety: Teach trainees safety procedures when working in confined spaces or hazardous areas.

· Hazard Analysis: Train trainees on how to conduct hazard analyses and identify preventive actions to reduce accidents.

· Safety Monitoring: Teach trainees how to monitor the work environment and identify potential hazards to ensure a safe working environment.
