Description

Civil Technology Department

The Civil Technology Department is one of the specialized training divisions at our institute. It aims to prepare qualified national cadres capable of working efficiently in the fields of construction, infrastructure, engineering supervision, and surveying, in accordance with the training standards and curricula approved by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC).

The department offers two main training tracks:

First: Diploma Programs

1. Civil and Architectural Technology Diploma  (Two and a half years)

This comprehensive program aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge required for the construction industry. Over two and a half years, the program covers both theoretical and practical aspects of civil engineering and architectural technology, with a focus on building structures, infrastructure, and project management. The program prepares graduates to work in civil construction, project supervision, structural design, and construction materials and concrete technology.

Program Objectives:

·        Train students in the fundamentals of civil engineering

·        Acquire skills in material testing (concrete – soil – asphalt)

·        Learn supervision of construction sites

·        Read and execute engineering drawings

·         Apply occupational safety procedures

·         Use engineering software such as AutoCAD

Career Opportunities

· Graduates of the Civil & Architectural Technology Diploma can work in the following fields:

· Civil site supervisor

· Materials laboratory technician (concrete, soil, asphalt)

· Assistant civil engineer

· Quality control technician

· Project inspector / site controller

· Draftsman (technical drawings & shop drawings)

· Quantity surveying technician

· Construction project assistant

· Building maintenance technician

· Infrastructure and road works technician

2. Surveying Diploma (Two and a half years)

The Surveying Diploma is a comprehensive training program designed to provide students with the essential and advanced skills in surveying sciences and land measurements. Over two and a half years, the program covers theoretical and practical aspects of surveying, map drawing, the use of modern measuring instruments, and geographic information systems (GIS).
The program focuses on training students to perform surveying and stakeout operations, execute accurate surveying calculations, and manage geographic data with high precision. This qualifies graduates to work effectively in infrastructure projects, road works, urban planning, and various engineering applications.

Program Objectives:

·  Understand the fundamentals of surveying sciences
·  Train on surveying instruments (Level, Theodolite, Total Station)
·  Master field surveying and stakeout operations
·  Perform accurate surveying calculations
·  Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Career Opportunities

·   Graduates of the Surveying Diploma can work in the following sectors:
·   Surveying technician
·   Assistant surveyor on construction sites
