Description

Piping Installation Department – Accredited Vocational Training Program

Piping Installation Department
The Piping Installation Department is one of the most specialized and leading training departments in our institute. It offers a comprehensive training program that meets the needs of the Saudi and global labor markets in manufacturing, construction, oil and gas, and energy sectors.
The program is accredited by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), and the institute is registered and accredited by Saudi Aramco, providing graduates with strong opportunities to integrate into the largest industrial sectors in the Kingdom.

Course: Piping Installation Technician (12 Months)

The course lasts for 12 months, combining language training, basic knowledge, and specialized practical training. Trainees begin by strengthening their English language skills, then move on to the core curriculum before engaging in advanced field training in piping installation.
Program Stages:

First: English Language Program

· Designed for employees and trainees who wish to develop their language skills to succeed in technical work environments.

· The program includes four levels, from beginner to pre-intermediate.

· Focuses on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

· Aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Global Scale of English (GSE).

· Allows trainees who complete the preparatory levels to start vocational training alongside technical English.

Second: Core Curriculum (NCCER Core)

· A core requirement for all Level 1 craft programs.

· Covers basic topics including occupational safety, communication skills, construction drawings, practical performance tests, professional mathematics, hand tools and power tools, and reading engineering drawings.

· Provides a solid knowledge foundation that enables trainees to confidently advance in their professional specialties.

Third: Piping Installation Program

This program provides focused theoretical and practical training covering the latest technologies and practices used in piping installation and fabrication within factories and large industrial projects.
The training includes:

1- Introduction and Occupational Safety

· Professional Role: Comprehensive introduction to the role and core responsibilities of a Piping Installer (Pipefitter).

· Occupational Safety: Full understanding of occupational safety systems (HSE).

· Tools and Equipment: Safe and proper use of specialized hand and power tools.

2- Engineering of Piping Systems and Components

· System Components: In-depth study of piping systems and components (types, materials, connections, and classifications).

· Applied Mathematics: Applying basic engineering mathematics in:

- Basic installation calculations.

- Cutting angle calculations.

· Determining complex piping routes.

3- Reading and Analyzing Drawings and Schematics

· Understanding Drawings: Mastery in reading and understanding detailed drawings and schematics.

· Technical Analysis: Analyzing specialized technical drawings, such as:

- Process and instrument flow diagrams (P&ID).

- Detailed Isometric Drawings.

· Measurements: Accurate determination of dimensions and measurements required for installation through drawings.

4-Valves and Accessories

· Types of Valves: Identifying various types of valves (such as gate, ball, and shutoff valves).

· Installation and Function: Studying the function of each type and the correct installation methods within the piping system.

5- Fabrication & Joining Techniques

· Threaded Pipes (Threaded End - TE / Screwed - Scrd): Manufacturing and preparing these pipes manually and with machines.

· Socket-Weld Joints (Socket-Weld - SW): Skills in installing and preparing pipes for this type of joint.

· Butt-Welded Joints (Butt-Welded - BW): Understanding the preparation and precise alignment requirements for butt-welded joints.

6-Practical Skills and Field Application
Practical training includes simulating industrial projects, including:

· Safety: Strict use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Measurement: Performing precise engineering measurements.

· Preparation: Carrying out pipe cutting, bending, and assembly processes.

· Alignment: Ensuring proper alignment of joints and preparing them for connection or welding according to engineering drawings.

· Introduction to the Piping Installer Profession: Introduction to the role of a piping installer (Pipefitter), occupational safety systems, and the safe and correct use of specialized hand and power tools.

· Piping Systems Engineering and Components: In-depth study of pipe types, materials, joints, and classifications according to international standards.

· Applied Engineering Mathematics: Using basic mathematical and engineering principles for installation calculations, cutting angles, and determining complex piping routes.

Course Objectives

· Master reading engineering drawings, especially Isometric Drawings and Process and Instrument Flow Diagrams (P&ID).

· Understand the components and materials used in piping systems (pipe types, connections, valves).

· Learn to apply and understand international codes and standards (ASME/API) for quality and design.

· Perform accurate calculations and measurements in cutting and shaping processes.

· Gain skills in preparing pipe ends for connection or welding.

· Train in precise assembly and alignment.

· Apply pressure testing and leak testing procedures to ensure system safety.

· Adhere to occupational safety procedures (HSE) and work safely with equipment.

· Ensure work quality (QC) according to engineering specifications.
